This weeks art entitled "Collage of Colors" gives us a great opportunity to express our desires with Giveohgive.org

We are all a collage of colors. Meaning, we all have different experiences and perspectives.

As I mentioned in the last post, I finally have a sane work schedule. It gives me Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off. Which has been WONDERFUL! I really do enjoy most aspects of my job and will be starting my (shortened) work week today at noon.

Yesterday we were able to get together with our first three young artists and have them put their checks in their envelopes with a little note to each of their charities. It was really fun, and I must say I am impressed because they were really serious about Giveohgive.org. This was a great positive experience for all of us.

I have had such great support from friends and family. This project is about taking a generation of kids and widening their perspective on giving and worthy causes. We are all so involved with our immediate needs that sometimes (and I'm very guilty of this myself) it's very hard to reach out. So far, Giveohgive.org has helped me get back in touch with old friends, stay in better touch with family, and also make new friends. So I'm going to count myself as being pretty lucky. Giveohgive.org has really blessed my life and I hope it blesses those who visit, use, and participate along with us as well.

Week 6 | O Christmas Tree!

I am extremely pleased with Giveohgive.org's new look! Do you like it? I asked Pete to change things around so that the art can be bigger and he sure came thru for me. I love our logo and the new background sure looks festive for the holidays!

Before introducing this weeks charitable cause I want to give you a little personal update. I have been working too much!! The job I have was supposed to be part time, but quickly turned into full time. So I had to put my foot down and cut back my hours. I have so much to catch up on!! Most importantly is catching up with my family. Secondly, is catching up on Giveohgive.org. I now have a little more time to coordinate with friends and family that want to participate. So my goal right now is to get 52 young artists and their charities lined up for next year! So expect a call and email from me!!

On to this week! Elizabeth, our daughter has drawn us another beautiful picture entitled "O Christmas Tree". We hope you enjoy it and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support. This weeks ad-click revenue will be donated to Project Clean Water. Also known as www.giveadrop.com.

Week 5 | Harry Potter and his Friends

Elizabeth stepped right up to the plate again with a new piece of artwork entitled "Harry Potter and His Friends". She is quite a voracious reader and has read most of the Goosebumps, Mary Kate and Ashley, Warriors series of books. Unbeknownst to us she grabbed her brothers copy of the first Harry Potter book and read the 1st chapter so that's what's been on her mind lately.
She chose to donate this weeks ad click revenue to the Idaho Food Bank.
As all of you know food banks across the country are really struggling to meet demand this year. Using Giveohgive.org for all of your internet search needs is a great way to help feed the hungry. According to the Idaho Food Bank each $1 donated allows for 3 nutritious meals for children. Again, thank you all for your continued support.

We've decided to try this turkey recipe.
It looks really good.

And here's the recipe Pete tried to get me to make for him.
But considering his families history with heart disease...

I said no.

One stick of butter with bacon on the turkey was enough.

Week 4 | Candle on a Birthday Cake

The funnest thing about Giveohgive.org is that we get to include friends and family members and their children. This week's masterpiece is by my 6 year old niece Emma Christy. It's entitled "Candle on a Birthday Cake" and all of this weeks proceeds will go to the LDS Philanthropies Humanitarian Aid General Fund.
Also notice Pete is working on introducing holiday colors. He's super busy so many thanks for his help! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Week 3 | Pretty Flowers

Our previous weeks artist's little sister Hallie Jensen has drawn us a beautiful picture entitled "Pretty Flowers". She's chosen the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation as this weeks beneficiary. The Vascular Birthmarks Foundation is the leading not for profit in the world for families affected by a vascular birthmark. Since it's inception in 1994 by Dr. Linda Rozell Shannon, VBF has successfully networked thousands of children and adults into treatment, sponsored significant research and education for physicians and affected family members about the diagnosis and treatment of vascular birthmarks. The VBF has established chapters all over the world.

Week 2 | Flowers and Bees

Our friend's daughter Aspen Jensen (8) proudly presents her drawing of "Flowers and Bees". Aspen has chosen the American Skin Association to be this weeks beneficiary. We love the symmetry of this piece and of course love those bees! (Pete keeps honeybees). The American Skin Association (ASA) is a volunteer-led health organization dedicated to saving lives and alleviating suffering caused by skin disorders and skin cancer.

Week 1 | My Mom at Work

Elizabeth (Caitlyn) stepped right up with our first piece of artwork entitled "My Mom at Work". She chose the Remote Area Medical Foundation to be this weeks beneficiary. Founded by Stan Brock who lived with the pain and suffering created by isolation from medical care during the 15 years he spent with the Wapishana Indians. When he left South America to co-star in the television series, "Wild Kingdom" he vowed to find a way to deliver basic medical aid to people in the world's inaccessible regions.

What really got our attention was this video that appeared on the CBS NEWS television program 60 MINUTES. Giveohgive.org will be donating this weeks search revenue to their Rural America Program "RAM".

How Google search works.

I've asked Pete to write a quick technical explanation about how google search works.

Search engine 101

Started by founders Larry Page, and Sergey Brin while at Stanford University, Google has become synonymous with web searching. They are the titans of who, what, when, where, why, and how. We all google, and probably have all been googled.

Google sends out "bots" to craw websites constantly indexing and categorizing text, pictures, video, links etc. (more geeky info here) When you type in "radio controlled cars" for example. Google serves up a grouping of links that they think may have the information you are looking for. Advertisers can pay to have their (relevant) ads show up next to information produced by your search query.

So the super cool thing about Google is that they offer an opportunity for web publishers like myself to participate in this ad revenue thru google’s adsense and adwords program. A website can host a google search and/or a few ad spaces. If website visitors like something they see on one of the ads, and then “click-thru” the ad the website owner makes a little money. The same holds true for google search.

In the case of www.giveohgive.org every time someone uses the search, relevant data, and ads are produced. Those ads generate revenue that giveohgive.org's featured young artist donates to charity. Cool beans.

Pete and I have had this song going thru our minds for the past week and a half as we have prepared for the launch of our new charitable website Giveohgive.org. We are so excited to share our new venture with our friends and family.

You may recall these lyrics from your childhood:

"Give," said the little stream,

"Give, oh! give, give, oh! give."

"Give," said the little stream,

As it hurried down the hill;

"I'm small, I know, but wherever I go

The fields grow greener still."

This sweet and simple message is reflective of our sweet and simple purpose.

Giveohgive.org celebrates the childhood artist and the simple, yet beautiful act of giving.

Art and giving go hand in hand to make the "fields grow greener still".

The simple act of using our site as your default search engine will generate funds that will then be donated to a charity chosen by our featured artist.

All of us are using search for everything everyday.

Now, every time you search, you give.

Our first featured artist is our lovely daughter Elizabeth Caitlyn. This girl is always doing something crafty, and arty. She is the inspiration for this site, so it's an appropriate way for us to kick things off.

She drew a beautiful picture of me(Christelle) at my part time job at a local deli with my co-workers Damian (left) and Margaret (right). Also note the tasty sandwiches, cheeses and salads.

Elizabeth's artwork will be displayed for one week so we hope you spread the word with your friends and family members to use giveohgive.org search page to support Elizabeth's charity of choice. Right now she's deciding between two different charities. We'll let you know which one she ends up picking.

With children there is an innocence and simplicity when it comes to giving. Pete and I are so happy that we finally get to share with you just a little, yet an important, first step towards our goal and devotion to "let the fields grow greener" with our charitable work and efforts. The great thing about giveohgive.org is that our family and friends get to participate and contribute to charity just by using the search at giveohgive.org.
